Vintage Mobile Cinema comes to Mersea

The Vintage Mobile Cinema

Outside the MICA Centre, West Mersea this morning there were screenings of the devastation caused by the 1953 floods that hit the east coast, in the 22 seat vintage mobile cinema which had come up from Devon.

The bus is the only surviving one of a fleet of seven that were built for the Government in 1967 to showcase modern British production techniques. Today, it has been carefully restored to its former glory and tours the country bringing a unique slice of automotive and cinema history.

Of course it was just up Charlie's and my street...! to see this old vehicle and get a front seat for the archived film.

Wouldn't it be delightful to see it here again....

Have a great weekend.

Salty kisses

Mish..x

P.S. Memberships are still available for the Mersea Island Film Society.

Chilly Billy

Hello,
So chilly here on Mersea Island, but the frost does look rather beautiful...x
Just to update you followers - the NSPCC Fair was really fun. On my stall I had my fantastic Mummy, my Charlie boy and my Loobie Loo to help.
We had a very busy time and sold lots of my gorgeous pieces, in fact I had to call my wonderful Daddy to come and restock our little store of goodies!!xxx
A total of over £2000 raised for a fantastic cause - well done everyone!
Have a great weekend!
Love to you all....x

Happy Pumpkin Soup Time

Charlie and I had a pumpkin growing competition but he won.

Jane's Smart Art Halloween window where I have some very "dark" blackboards on display.

Its that time of year to snuggle up to the log burner and make your face glow.

Meanwhile I'm busy flapping my fairy wings and getting all my pretties together for the NSPCC Christmas Present Fair on the 20th November.
I hope to solve all your pressie dilemmas with my extremely personal work.
This year lots of vintage glassware and clay labels on my stall.
Please come and support this very good cause...xxx
Till next time!

Norfolk Mini Break

My family and I went for a mini break to the seaside in Norfolk.

We stayed in Burnham Deepdale Backpackers Hostel, which I have to say was very swish, with our own bathroom.
It was really good fun cooking and socialising with everyone in the large barn/ lounge area.

Norfolk was as delightful as ever, with gorgeous coves, big sandy beaches, moderate waves and happy faces.
Charlie enjoyed kiting and body boarding.

My special friend Rachael who was staying in Wells said we must go to The Hoste Hotel in Burnham Market. Wow loved it....x

Charlie and I spent a very happy few minutes in The Big Blue Sky, Wells. A fascinating shop with everything made in Norfolk.

We visited Walsingham and took the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway, a 30 minute journey to the seaside and harbour town of Wells, from the picturesque town of Walsingham, famed for centuries as a centre of pilgrimage.

It was a scenic journey with five bridges through lovely countryside with breathtaking creatures including an inquisitive hare, quails, pheasants and mother hen with her chicks...x

I have come back all inspired by the colours of the shore, marine shades of watery blue and green so I shall be using more for my statement pieces of up-cycled vintage one off finds.

Till next time.
With love x

Charlie is a Manchester City Mascot

I am beaming from ear to ear.....x
A very proud moment for a mother to see her son as a mascot for Manchester City coming through the tunnel on Saturday in the home derby against Manchester United.

Yes that really is my "Charlie Boy" !x ....with his new haircut.
